Active Youth:

Incorporates fundamental movement patterns including running, jumping, catching, kicking, hopping, skipping, leaping, throwing and balance. These skills are taught in a fun way, through games, circuits, drills, dance, mini challenges and more. This program aims to improve confidence, fitness, strength, co-ordination and self-esteem.

Carers and parents are welcome to join in.

Group Fitness:

Active Kids: Kid friendly activities focus on developing fundamental motor skills in a fun filled environment. (ages 6+) Free Trial period 12 Nov - 10 Dec 2018

Active Abilities: This class welcomes children with disabilities. Focus is on fitness, strength, building confidence, making friends and having fun. (ages 6+)

Dribblers/All-Stars: The Active Monash Dribblers/All-Stars is a beginner basketball program for children. Children will learn basic basketball skills and drills, make friends and have fun. (ages 4+)

Teen Fit: A class specifically for teens designed with gym and bodyweight exercises which increase fitness, strength and cardio. (ages 12+)

Frequently Asked Questions:

Below you will find our most commonly asked questions about Active Youth:
What do I wear to class?
Comfortable clothes: t-shirt, shorts, tracksuit pants or anything you can move easily in. Closed toe footwear (like runners) are required for all classes for safety and hygiene reasons.

 

What do I bring?
Bring a water bottle and a towel for your sessions (either classes or in the gym) to help you stay hydrated and hygienic.

 

Do I need to stay with my child?
If your child is under 10 years of age you are required to remain in the class. If your child is 10+ you are welcome drop them off . If you are a paid carer for a participant with a disability who requires 1:1 support you are required to stay in the class.

 

Where do you run your classes?
Our Active Youth classes are currently run at Monash Aquatic and Recreation Centre. We run our stadium programs at Oakleigh Recreation Centre and teen access (to gyms and classes) is valid for all three centres.
